There is something magical, God-breathed inspiring, about day lilies. For just one day, a bloom is magnificent and break-taking, then each lily shrinks and shrivels into nothing but a memory as a fallen bloom.
Yet, each day, when I wake up, I can’t wait to see which lilies will grace my yard with their glory. They require very little upkeep, and they propagate without my help. All I offer is a bit of weeding and fertilizing, and nature supplies the sun and soil weaving a tapestry of beauty. I don’t have a special macro lens for my camera so this is the best I can do as far as photography will allow me to capture the day’s offering.
“So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not [l]arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Matthew 6:28-
Thank you for the reminder.
Mortals, born of woman, are of few days and full of trouble.
They spring up like flowers and wither away;
like fleeting shadows, they do not endure.

I think you are quoting from the book of Job, am I right?

You are correct. One of my favorite books of poetry.

Argh! You make me jealous! Here in San Miguel, a so-called “high desert” climate zone, we only get rain four months a year and right now the humidity is 20 percent or less. So no daylilies for us. Of course, you complain about Louisiana’s swampy climate, so I guess no one’s happy where they are.
I also appreciate your Scripture citations. I may yet pull out my college Bible and start reading it again, at least the New Testament.
Take care

I think I’d take arid and high desert over our swampy clime, but yes, the fruit and flowers are more abundant.

I have several day lilies in my garden, they multiply like crazy, but none of mine have bloomed yet. It’s been very rainy but cold here. I can’t wait until they reveal their unique faces and colors in the upcoming weeks. I do wish they would last a few days in a vase … they are beauties.

It’s funny how big our country is. We are just on the cusp of having hot weather. It’s warm out now, but soon, the HEAT and HUMIDITY will be here, wilting all but the most hardy flowers. You should have flower all summer. We won’t that’s for sure.
